General Ceremony Questions


Requirements

Q. How long do we have to be at the resort before we can get married?
A. For civil ceremonies and vow renewals, 3 business days prior to ceremony date are required (Monday-Saturday are considered business days). Holidays do not apply.

Q. What is the latest time I can arrive at the resort for it to count towards my 3-business day's requirement?
A. Couples must arrive at the resort by 3:00pm in order for that day to be considered as the first day.

Q. Are weddings performed at Le Blanc legal in the United States?
A. Yes. Civil weddings performed in Mexico are legal in the United States. Please contact your nearest courthouse to find out more information on registering your marriage certificate and obtaining information on whether or not your state requires you to translate the marriage certificate to English.

Q. Do we need to have a passport and birth certificate to get married?
A. Yes. The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative will require all travelers, including U.S citizens, to and from Mexico to have a valid passport to enter or re-enter the United States by January 23, 2007. Please visit http://travel.state.gov/ for complete details or to obtain a passport.

Q. My passport is expired; will this be acceptable to get married?
A. No. Both bride and groom must have valid and current passports in order to get civilly married at the Resort.

Q. How many photocopies of my birth certificate do I need?
A. You must have the original or a certified copy plus 2 photocopies.

Q. If my name is different from the passport and birth certificate will this present a problem?
A. Yes. All names must be exactly the same including middle names.

Q. Is there any additional documentation required when performing a wedding ceremony at Le Blanc Spa Resort?
A. Yes. A Tourist ID is required; you will automatically obtain this upon arrival at the Cancun's International Airport. In addition, if either bride or groom have ever been divorced, widowed, had a name change or are adopted, an original or certificated copy of the decree or document is required along with an Apostille document. If Canadian, please contact the Mexican Embassy nearest you to obtain an Authentication document along with your decree or documents.

Q. What is an Apostille document, why do I need it and where can I get it?
A. The Apostille Document is a special certification document, which is accepted to countries who are a party to the rules of the Hague Convention. The Apostille document enables you to bypass further certification from the US Department of State and immediately send or take your documents to the country of intended use. Please contact your Secretary of State office for information on how to obtain the Apostille Document or log on to www.travel.state.gov/famil/abduction/hagueissues/hagueissues562.html

For Canadian Residents the Authentication document, which is obtained from your nearest Mexican Embassy Office, serves the same purpose as the Apostille document.

Q. If I am a Mexican Citizen and getting married with a foreigner, will I need extra documentation?
A. Yes. Both bride and groom must arrive to the resort 6 business days prior to ceremony date. A foreigner is required to obtain all the necessary documents at the immigration department when civilly marrying a Mexican Citizen. Please contact your assigned wedding coordinator to obtain all the required documents that must be presented.

Q. Can I contact the Immigration Department directly prior to our arrival?
A. Yes. You can contact them at 011-52-998-884-1658.

Q. Can I translate my Divorce Decree and Apostille document prior to our arrival to the resort?
A. No. All translations must be done at the resort by our on-site certified translators only. Additional fees apply.

Q. I was divorced less than one year ago. Can I have my civil ceremony at the Resort?
A. Yes. However, a mandatory pregnancy test must be taken. If the test is positive, the ceremony cannot be performed. No Exceptions.

Q. What diseases do you test for?
A. HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and all Sexually Transmitted Diseases are tested.

Q. Can I have a doctor perform the blood test in my country and take the results to the resort?
A. No. Blood tests must be taken at the resort. (Additional fees apply.)

Q. Will I be able to perform the wedding ceremony if one of the blood or pregnancy tests read positive?
A. No, under the Mexican Constitution couples that test positive cannot get civilly marry in Mexico.

Q. Will the judge perform the wedding ceremony if all documents are not in order? Are there exceptions?
A. No. The judge is employed by the Mexican Civil Registry Department and all Documents must be in order. NO Exceptions will be made. Please verify all documentation before departure to ensure that you have all necessary documents.

Q. Do we mail documents before we arrive?
A. No. Documents must be hand carried and presented to the wedding coordinator during the time of your interview.


Wedding Packages
Q. Can I purchase one of your Optional Bridal packages individually?
A. No. A general package must be purchased in order to obtain one of our Optional Bridal Packages.


Reserving a wedding ceremony
Q. How can I reserve my wedding ceremony?
A. A wedding reservation form must be completed with all required information. You can find this form on the website at www.leblancsparesort.com by clicking the icon found on the main Weddings page.

Q. Will I be contacted once I submit the reservation request form?
A. Yes. Once your form has been reserved, you should receive a written confirmation via email within 24-48 business hours with all the required information. If you are not contacted within this time period please contact us directly at 877-848-4933

Q. Do you perform ceremonies on Sundays?
A. No. All wedding ceremonies are performed Monday-Saturday only. Holidays do not apply.

Q. How to book a wedding?

A.

  • Submit the online reservation request form.
  • If the requested day is not available, the wedding coordinator will contact you to provide you with the availability.
  • Once the wedding day is reserved, within 24-48 hours you will receive the wedding contract via  e-mail .
  • Couples will review the contract, sign it, and fax it back to Le Blanc's wedding coordinator.
  • When choosing any of the wedding packages, a credit card number must be submitted. A cancellation penalty of $300.00 will apply to all these packages, if the reservation is cancelled within 30 days of the wedding date.
  • If the couple chooses any of the wedding packages, a 50% deposit of the complete package is required 14 days after confirmation is received. Final payment is due 30 days prior to ceremony for all packages.

Upon arriving at the resort, the couple will meet with a wedding coordinator who will check the documents and discuss the final details of the ceremony. At this occasion the couple will choose the restaurant for the dinner, the decoration of the tables, etc.

- Steps at the resort:

  • Upon arrival and at the moment of check-in, the couple will receive a letter that indicates the date and time of the appointment with the wedding coordinator. The letter also includes a form that has to be filled out.
  • At the meeting with the coordinator, the couple will turn in the required documents. They also discuss the cake they will choose, time when breakfast will be served (after the wedding), flower arrangement, music, photography, video, guests not staying at Le Blanc Spa Resort, etc. In this meeting all details, of the wedding are finalized - this is why it is important for the couple to attend this meeting.
  • The day of the wedding, 15 minutes prior to the ceremony, the coordinator meets with the bride in her room and gives her the bouquet and takes her to the appointed destination for the ceremony.
  • Usually, the day prior to check out the marriage certificate is given to the couple.

Payment
Q. If I obtain a Wedding or Vow Renewal Package is payment required immediately?
A. A 50% deposit will be required 14 days after ceremony has been confirmed. The final payment is due 30 days prior to wedding date.

Q. When should payment on all Optional Services be made?
A. Optional Services are to be paid at the resort during your initial interview with the wedding coordinator.

General Ceremony Questions
Q. Is the ceremony performed in English or Spanish?
A. The ceremony is performed in English, however, it can be performed in Spanish upon request.

Q. Can we have the ceremony performed on the beach?
A. Yes, ceremonies are being perfomed on the beach.

Q. Would I be able to ship my wedding dress among some wedding favors to the resort?
A. Unfortunately, Le Blanc Spa Resort doe nott allow packages to be shipped directly to the property

Q. Are their any optional services that must be reserved prior to our arrival to Le Blanc Spa Resort?
A. Yes. If interested in purchasing a live band, religious ceremony, minister, tuxedo rentals or a private dinner functions, please contact your wedding coordinator at least 60 days prior so she can confirm these services for your wedding ceremony.

Q. Will I have to contact the wedding coordinator upon my arrival to the resort?
A. No. Upon check-in, you will receive an appointment letter from your assigned coordinator informing you of the date and time of your interview. This appointment is mandatory and cannot be rescheduled.

Q. When do I reserve Salon Services? For example hair appointment, nail services, etc.
A. These will be reserved by your onsite/assigned wedding coordinator on the day of your interview.

Q. Do you offer more flower selections than the ones that are on your website?
A. Absolutely. Your wedding coordinator will present you with a flower album that includes all bouquet & boutonnieres options at the resort.

Q. If I have guests who want to attend the wedding, but will not be staying at a Le Blanc property, can they still attend the wedding?
A. Yes. Guests not staying at Le Blanc must purchase a day pass upon arriving at the resort. The day pass gives the guests full access to the resorts' amenities.

Q. Can I have my family members and friends who are 17 years old or younger attend my wedding ceremony? Will the hotel make an exception?
A. Due to the strict rules and regulations that govern Le Blanc, an adults-only all-inclusive resort, we are not able to make any exceptions. All guests must be 18 years or older.

Q. Will our marriage certificate be issued in English or Spanish?
A. The Marriage Certificate is issued in Spanish. You must register the marriage certificate with your nearest courthouse. Contact your local courthouse for more information.
